Tumbling onward

Things have gotten all confusing since I got a tumblr, so I think from now on I’ll be using this blog for the traditional life sketches/comix like before, plus art and development for Notions and other such projects. Fanart, random sketches, and so on will go on tumblr, as well as an assortment of silly reblogs and even the occasional blog-type post.

Please bear with me as I continue to sort this stuff out, and you can click below to check out my tumblr~

Life Comix: One Giant Leap For Cheesiness

Which is, after all, what the moon is made of. But seriously I just spent like ten minutes trying to come up with a title for this, and each one was cornier than the last, so I’m just gonna go with that.

I’ve been meaning to draw this for a while as a means of “catching up” on Life Comix and hopefully convincing myself/you/anybody of a shift in attitude, however small. I’m not sure if it’s working but I hope you like my dumb sketchy drawings.

Also, I’m on tumblr now. It’s basically going to be the same content as this but with 200% more reblogs. Also, maybe other kinds of written content or something, I have no idea. Still trying to figure out the best method of making posts on here appear there, so excuse the mess for now.

deviantART Journal Header

I’ve been following a lot of tumblr art blogs lately, and since I don’t have a tumblr myself, I’ve gotten into the habit of just uploading things as I finish them instead of saving everything up and making longer blog posts. I hope that’s okay – I’ll probably be more active this way, since I tended to procrastinate a lot with the excuse of not having enough to post yet! Here’s a sort of PSG-style self-portrait for my journal on deviantART.

I also took this opportunity to update my commissions page! Plug plug plug. I revamped it both here and on deviantART, and since the new semester is starting and I need lots of supplies for classes, now is an excellent time to pay me to draw things! Anyway, peace out!

And we’re back! Or back-ish!

Hello, eberynyan! I’m back from France, but jet lag, work, and preparing to go back to school have distracted me from posting. I’ll assail you with sketches from my trip and so on quite soon, but for now, here is a page full of sketches of people and moments from the house we stayed in in southern France:
Explanations for the above, and many more sketches, are soon to come! Meanwhile, here are some recent submissions from my deviantART page to tide you over. And here is me subtly reminding you of my commissions

PS: My very dear bespectacled, Vicodin-influenced friend, you can blame yourself for reminding me.

Départ sur un JET PLANE.

Well, I’m writing this post via incredibly slow airport wi-fi as I wait for my flight to France~ I will have my laptop there, but I may not be making any posts for about two and a half weeks (certainly no quality posts, anyway – no scanner). I’ll update periodically via Twitter and such, and if you have any questions, commissions, etc, leave a comment or email or such like always~ A plus tard, mes amis!

Glee-athon!

Sorry Hachi, ilu please forgive me~ Despite my best friend’s aversion to the show, I recently marathoned all of Glee so that I could watch new episodes with my family (who have all become addicts, including my grandmother). While there are certain aspects that I find annoying, for the most part it’s a very fun show~ So here are some sketches I did while I was watching (when I wasn’t cleaning, of course).

Emma is super cute! Her outfits and o Ao-face are adorable, and just her personality in general. And Tina is cute too, despite her fashion being sort of cliche at times and her hardly ever having a major plot line. xD All of the characters are sort of stereotypical on the surface, but I think the show does a pretty decent job of playing off of these things and eventually coming up with a surprising amount of depth. Also, catchy songs.

More characters herp herp. I love Kurt! Rachel, not so much. She does have a good voice, but it’s sort of Disney pop-y, and I’d like to hear someone else have a solo on occasion. :c I actually wound up really liking Quinn, too, and her voice is great. x3 She’s super pretty, so I wanted to draw her, but I suck at her hair…

Of course, right after I drew her with the ponytail and cheerleader uniform, there was a musical number where her hair was down and super pretty and she was wearing a nicer and simpler outfit. I also tried to draw Brittany on the left, but I’m not sure that went so well.
Anyway, it goes without saying that Sue Sylvester is fantastic.

Initially I was going to say that these two are the funnest buddy-pair on the show.

But then this scene happened.

Sue and Will interacting is always hilarious, and I love Will’s singing voice~ Also, honorable mentions: Finn/Rachel is good even if I don’t especially like either of them, Puck fails, and Idina Menzel is super wonderful, as of course is Kristin Chenoweth. * 3*

And finally, these two! D’awww I’ve been rooting for them since the beginning, I wish they’d get it together properly already.

Anyway, that’s it for Glee for now! I’d also like to note right quick that I’ve got a page up for taking commissions now. I’m in need of money at the moment and work quickly, so please take a look~ There’ll be more drawings soon, including the trials of my new job, the moe of Spice and Wolf, and other stuff!

And then J was a mono zombie

I got sort of sick over a week ago now, with a bit of a sore throat at first. I sort of wrote it off and kept working and studying, still doodling but planning to upload them when I had time and felt a bit better.

And then I didn’t feel better! In fact it was more like “and then I could barely swallow or remain conscious.”

I had gotten tested for strep a few days before, but it was negative and that was the end of it. Now when I went back I had to get my blood tested (which I hate and suck at) and then bum around in a bed for a while. The nurse came in, told me I had pharyngitis, and hooked me up to an IV with a bunch of fluids and medicine (I was dehydrated because my throat was too sore to drink, fun times). The doctor didn’t clarify till a few minutes later that the pharyngitis is just part of my delightful mono package.

Anyway, then I was attached to an IV for a while, then got some medicine, pamphlets (“So, You Have Mono”), and was told to take my pills, drink a lot, and rest up.

Clearly they did not know who they were dealing with when they said to take pills. I had a final at 8 AM the next day (Japanese, which I think I did really well on) so I dragged myself to that and then ventured alone to the dining hall to experiment with what foods would help get the pills down. They’re really small, but they taste terrible! D: But I managed to trick my throat into accepting them. For the three days I’ve had to take them, I’ve utilized bananas, sherbet, eggs with syrup, and cookie dough! I AM PROUD OKAY

Anyway, the pills are actually some kind of steroid, which is scary! They work alarmingly well, but during finals week I guess I would rather be falsely healthy than spending the whole day dying in bed. I have my two worst finals on Monday, one on Tuesday, and then I go home on Thursday! Today is the last day I’m on the pills, so I am anxious as to whether Tylenol and tea will be enough to get me through my tests – this is really the worst-timed illness ever.

So, I have more drawings from before and after the illness struck, but really I should be studying so I’ll get to that for now and continue to post backlogged doodles over the next few days~ I’m sort of still puzzling out the order in which to post things, so here are a few quickies that don’t really fit anywhere.

I am studying French, somewhat. The correlation between spelling and pronunciation is beyond me at this point. (That’s IPA in the first bubble, it is a cool thing!)

I rediscovered TetrisFriends earlier today, another excellently timed finals week activity (along with getting mono). I’ve always been addicted to the game, of course, and I go through very scary periods of addiction, usually on this site or with the agelessly wonderful Tetris DS. Anyway I busted out the latest badge before forcing myself to put it aside for now, here is my profile if you want

Finally, oh whoops I didn’t clean that up too well a drawing from shortly before I got sick which serves the dual purpose of alluding to future posts and displaying my remarkable skill for drawing things which in hindsight prove very ironic! Pictured is me being naively excited about vidya and animu (we beat Batman, I found my Pikachu, etc), having picked my housing for next year, Hachi (whose internet’s return heralded my disease), and my job prospect at Dunkie’s. But more on all of this later! TRY TO BREATHE UNTIL THEN IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

J’s Blog IV: A New Hope

Actually, this is probably at least VI or something, really. So the first thing I’m typing on this is a sci-fi joke, and the second is a confession of my pathetic track record? Let’s just move on…

Hi! I’m J. This is approximately what I look like.

I’ve had my share of blogs, comics, art sites, and such in the past, but none of them quite stuck.

This time, I’m going to try a sort of sketch-blog format, since most of what I produce nowadays is just doodles, and I like writing (and suck at Tegaki).

So let’s have a bit of introduction and then get to the content~ I’ll try to sum up what kind of stuff you can expect to see.

Uhm, so I’m a college student, and I’m double-majoring in English (with a creative writing specialization, hopefully) and Japanese. So yes, a delusional weeaboo, with vague hopes of becoming some kind of translator/editor/something as well as even more distant hopes of someday publishing a book. My ideas of the future right now are still vague and very easily intimidated little things, but we’ll see.

The book I’d like to write will be something deep and thoughtful and overly romantic. But I’ll generally spare you details about that.

My Japanese skills, as demonstrated to the right, are in the very early stages, but there’s a really good language program here, so we’ll see.

One hobby of mine is vidya, so that’s something I’ll probably bring up a lot. Here’s me strolling with my Pokewalker! As I do very often.

Another thing I like is drawing, mostly just sketches and doodles! But I draw things other than myself, don’t worry, my goodness.

Oh man, I had more to post, but I have to get to work now. More stuff later~
